When this year’s Super Bowl was approaching I realized one thing. I don’t have a T.V. how am I going to watch it? After calling around I discovered most of my friends didn’t own TV’s either. Although my friends like sports they were more interested in watching the several million dollar commercials than the game. Then after the Super Bowl they watched the same commercials online and never saw them on TV again.
People are starting to tune out the usual suspects of advertising and promotion. They don’t really register the billboards on the highway and they change the station when commercials come on. The importance of putting yourself out there on the internet is becoming more crucial. People have adopted an entire new way of being since the emergence of the internet. They shop, do research, communicate, watch shows and even have fantasy avatars in fantasy worlds online. The point is if you want to get noticed and stay in touch with the world you’ve got to make yourself known online.
Here are a few tips on how to do that:
Tip #1: Start blogging. People are always looking for information on the internet and usually the best resource for something comes from word of mouth. People will respond to your blogs with tips to help you.
Tip #2: Return the favor. Go to other people’s blogs and comment on their posts as well.
Tip #3: Create your own website. Market yourself by creating a page about yourself. Then link your page to your blog.
Tip #4: Be Trendy. Staying on top of current trends and blogging about them will drastically increase interest in your blogs.
Tip #5: Network. The bigger and more diverse your network, the more credible better your flow of communication of information.
I hope these tips help you market yourself in an ever changing world.
